Our Program

A Hero's Journey is a five day therapeutic journey offered through Behavioral Health of the Palm Beaches for individuals 18 years and older who have been impacted by the disease of addiction. Behavioral Health of the Palm Beaches is an established leader in the addiction treatment rehabilitation field and has been helping individuals successfully recover for over 15 years. Many adult children of trauma and/or addiction often find that they are blocked from being who they want to be, and more importantly, who they really are. This program is an opportunity to reclaim your authentic self by breaking down invisible boundaries. Download our brochure.

The staff members of the five day intensive program are trained in a variety of experiential therapies and are experts in the field of addictions, trauma, and codependency. A Hero's Journey is not designed to treat primary addiction, but rather the traumatic effects that addiction has caused in a person's life. The retreat is held in beautiful West Palm Beach, Florida. You will be surrounded by the sand and sun, while feeling the healing qualities of the ocean. We want to provide a safe and comfortable environment as you avoid distractions and focus on yourself. The five day journey may address the following issues:

  • Codependency
  • Painful Relationships
  • Trauma
  • Family of Origin Issues

These plans will provide a map for the client's journey to heal the trauma of the emotions, body, and mind. In addition, each participant will leave with a plan to continue the journey upon discharge.

Massages are offered at an additional fee. The program is open to anyone who feels the insanity of unhealthy behaviors. People using drugs and/or alcohol are not appropriate for this program, although individuals successfully leaving a rehabilitation facility and suffering from multiple relapses, trauma, etc. are appropriate for admission. Group Descriptions

Meditation and Inspiration: This group provides a spiritual center for the day with emphasis on selected readings, affirmations, music, and guided meditation.

Lifeline:
This group is designed to allow the client an opportunity to look at their lives in a creative and introspective way. It will provide them with an awareness of how they recreate patterns in their lives that are destructive. It also invites them to experience the emotions they may have lost as a result of living in numbness and dysfunction.

T.N.T. (There -N- Then):
This is a high energy group that uses techniques of role-playing, experiential work, psychodrama and many others. This provides the client with a forum to work through the emotional blocks from their past that are creating problems in the “here-n-now”.

New Outfits: Many individuals come into treatment with “insight abuse”. They have a great deal of awareness but have difficulty in placing the knowledge into changed behaviors, thus creating self-abuse for “knowing better”. This group assists the client in taking new insights and placing that information into specific behavioral change. This allows the client to begin to measure change and place needs and wants into achievable goals.

Self-Esteem:
This group ends the day in an uplifting way. The goal is to assist the client in recognizing and integrating positive assets. This is done with creativity and flair to go beyond the conscious to an untapped resource of strengths. This is essential in balancing the process of looking at liabilities.
